Post 7155’s support of this scouting and youth leadership program for the newly formed troop was a result of the meaningful dialogue between Glenn Umberger, VFW Post 7155 Commander, and Eric Meck, Troop 7155 scoutmaster.
“The membership of the Kline-Styer-McCann VFW Post looks forward to our new relationship with the Boy Scouts of America,” Umberger said. “Both organizations share similar goals, primarily that of supporting the community. By working together, we can better support all ages of your community and help develop the leaders of our future through teaching the hard lessons learned by the leaders of today.”
Both leaders expect great things from this collaboration, as they set forth to lead young men into a direction that will manifest itself as a wholesome way of life.
“My fellow leaders and I have benefited greatly by being involved in strong scouting programs during our youth,” Meck said. “VFW Post 7155 is a perfect organization to foster such a strong program that will guide our sons and their friends as they grow to manhood. Troop 7155’s scouting program, which emphasizes citizenship, leadership and community service while upholding the Scout Oath and Law, as well as immersing our scouts in outdoor adventure, will create lifelong values and memories for the scouts. We, as scouts and leaders, appreciate the enthusiasm and support we are receiving from the VFW Post.”
The VFW Trappe Post 7155 and Troop 7155 Scouts celebrated their unification with a charter presentation ceremony on earlier this year, at the Trappe VFW Post 7155.
The VFW organization works on behalf of American veterans lobbying for better veterans’ health care and benefits. The VFW also maintains a nationwide organization of employees and volunteers to assist veterans with their VA disability claims. The VFW also donates hundreds of thousands of dollars and millions of hours of community service.
The BSA Cradle of Liberty Lafayette District is one of 12 districts that make up the Cradle of Liberty Council that serves the youth of Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania.
“I look forward to a long and successful relationship and welcome you into the VFW Post 7155 family,” Umberger said to the Scouts at the charter presentation.
